The Defender Flex® Program Own one week and vacation 22 nights every year! This program is geared toward giving the owners of "slow-season" weeks some flexibility and increasing the value of their vacation ownership. The program allows you to do an internal exchange with your resort, without going through an exchange company to a time that better suits your needs. The slow season in Ocean City and Myrtle Beach for flex is weeks 1-12 and 42-52. Additionally, you are allowed Bonus Stays in three night increments during the months of January, February, March, October or November, and December. That's an additional 15 bonus night each year in addition to your week that is available. The bonus nights can be used at any Defender managed resort that is a member of the flex program such as Ocean City, MD or Myrtle Beach, SC. IMPORTANT! Every owner entered in The Defender Flex Program is entitled to reserve no more then one (1) three night bonus stay per specified month for each unit/week owned and entered in the program... one three night bonus stay in January, one three night bonus stay in February, one three night bonus stay in March, one three night bonus stay in October or November, and one three night bonus stay in December, for a total of 15 bonus nights. There is
no charge to enter your week in the Defender Flex Program. You simply contact
your home resort and sign up. There is a small administrative/housekeeping
fee for each 3 night bonus stay. The current cost for Ocean City

Common questions and answers about The Defender Flex Program "OWN ONE (1) WEEK AND VACATION TWENTY-TWO (22) NIGHTS EACH YEAR" The Defender Flex Program is a Defender-owned and sponsored program offered to owners. It is an in-house exchange during weeks 1 through 12 and 42 through 52 with a provision for three-night bonus stays during January, February, March, October or November, and December. Members of the Defender Flex Program enter their week into the program at their home resort and choose their vacation during the time period specified above. To help
you better understand the Defender Flex Program we have compiled a list
of answers to the most frequently asked questions about our program.
WHAT IS THE DEFENDER FLEX PROGRAM? The Defender
Flex Program is an in-house exchange during weeks 1 through 12 and 42 through
52, with a provision for 3-night bonus stays. Only those individuals named
on the deed to your property are considered owners and only those individuals
may participate in this program.
HOW DOES THE DEFENDER FLEX PROGRAM BENEFIT AN OWNER? When you
enter your week (1-12 and 42-52) into the Defender Flex Program at your
home resort, you can exchange within your resort during the weeks mentioned
above at NO CHARGE. For example, if you own week 5 and would like to come
to the resort week 12, you can call your home resort and make an in-house
exchange, based upon availability. You can also use a bonus 3-night stay
for a nominal fee, based upon availability.
WHAT IS THE COST TO BE IN THE DEFENDER FLEX PROGRAM? There is NO CHARGE to enter your week in The Defender Flex Program. Contact you home resort and sign an "Inventory Deposit Agreement". There is a small administrative fee for each 3-night bonus stay (see rates below.) Myrtle Beach

HOW DOES AN OWNER RESERVE A WEEK OR A 3-NIGHT BONUS STAY? To reserve
a week, simply call your home resort as far in advance as 89 days down
to 30 days prior to the date you are requesting. For a 3-night bonus stay,
call your home resort 15 days down to check in time of the date you are
requesting. You can reserve any week or 3 -night bonus stay during the
specified time period, based upon availability. Owners may bring guests
on a bonus stay, but owners may not send a guest in their place.
DO I HAVE TO RESERVE THE WEEK I ACTUALLY OWN IF I WANT TO USE THAT WEEK? Yes. When
you enter your unit/week in The Defender Flex Program, YOUR DEEDED WEEK
NO LONGER BELONGS TO YOU FOR THAT YEAR. Therefore, if you want to use your
deeded week, you must reserve it.
HOW DO I RESERVE THE WEEK I OWN AT MY HOME RESORT? Call your
home resort as far in advance as 89 days to 30 days prior to the date of
the week that you own. Keep in mind that your ability to reserve the unit
and/or week you own is based upon availability once you have entered it
in The Flex Program.
CAN I EXCHANGE MY WEEK WITH RCI OR INTERVAL AND STILL HAVE USAGE OF THE 3-NIGHT BONUS STAYS EACH MONTH DURING THE SPECIFIED TIME PERIOD? Yes! You
must call your home resort and RESERVE YOUR DEEDED WEEK. You can reserve
your deeded week as far in advance as 365 days down to 90 days prior to
the start date of the week. You must pay your maintenance fee before you
spacebank your week with an exchange company.
CAN I CARRY OVER ANY UNUSED VACATION TIME TO THE FOLLOWING YEAR? No. Every
owner is entitled to on (1) seven night reservation per year per unit/week
owned. Additionally, every owner entered in The Defender Flex Program is
entitled to reserve no more then one (1) three night bonus stay per specified
month for each unit/week owned and entered in the program.
CAN I JOIN THE DEFENDER FLEX PROGRAM AFTER THE YEAR STARTS AND USE IT THAT YEAR? You may
sign up for The Defender Flex Program at any time during the year. However,
your week MUST BE IN THE PROGRAM IN JANUARY so that the resort can get
usage of the week.
IS THERE A PENALTY IF I RESERVE A 3-NIGHT BONUS STAY AND DO NOT SHOW UP OR CALL TO CANCEL? Yes! To
prevent abuse of the system, once your reservation has been made for a
3-night bonus stay and you find you are unable to use it, you must call
you home resort and cancel. This cancellation notice must be given to the
resort 48 hours ahead of your check in time. If you fail to cancel your
reservation at your home resort, your account will be billed for the 3-nights
bonus stay at the resort's prevailing bonus rate.
CAN I RESERVE A WEEK IN THE DEFENDER FLEX PROGRAM OTHER THAN THE WEEK THAT I OWN AND HAVE THE RESORT RENT OUT THAT WEEK FOR ME? Yes! Reserve
the week you desire, based upon availability, and ask the resort to mail
you a rental agreement for your signature. This CANNOT BE DONE MORE THAN
89 DAYS IN ADVANCE of the week you are requesting. There is no guarantee
that the week will be rented.
IF I DECIDE TO TAKE MY WEEK OUT OF THE DEFENDER FLEX PROGRAM, CAN I DO THAT? Yes! You
must request this IN WRITTING prior to the start of the new year.
IF I OWN TWO WEEKS DURING THE SPECIFIED TIME PERIOD, CAN I PUT THE 3-NIGHT BONUS STAYS TOGETHER? Yes! You
can take SIX NIGHTS TOGETHER, based upon availability. You may have to
move from one unit to another and you will have to pay an administrative
fee for each 3-night stay.
IF I CALL FOR A 3-NIGHT BONUS STAY AND NO SPACE IS AVAILABLE AT MY HOME RESORT, WHAT WILL HAPPEN? Your home
resort staff will check with other participating Defender-Managed resorts
for
IF MY HOME RESORT HAS SPACE FOR A 3-NIGHT BONUS STAY, CAN I MAKE RESERVATIONS AT ANOTHER DEFENDER RESORT? Yes! You
may make reservations at any participating Defender-Managed resort, based
upon availability.
IS THERE ANOTHER ADVANTAGE TO BEING IN THE PROGRAM? The Defender
Flex Program offers advantages to multi week owners that own in the specified
time period. If you own two weeks, you may reserve a week from one contract
and reserve a 3-night bonus stay from the other contract. This would give
you a total of 10 nights at the resort. As always, this would be done based
upon availablity and you may have to move from one unit to another.
